ONE THING on Roadmap Narrative

At one company I worked at, I tried something different for the next big roadmap release.

For the presentation to the C-suite, I painted a picture of how the market was changing, what the emerging challenges were for our customers, and what we needed to provide to help. The science fiction story I told was of a future world with happy customers, successful became of our next big release. It also became the core of our sales pitch, board deck, and conference talks. Eventually, it helped us sell the company.

My stakeholders invested in this roadmap because they bought into the narrative.
